Going into my conference with Mat, I felt like I had just found enough words to finish my 1,000-word draft. Although the draft satisfied the word requirement, it didn’t truly feel like it was finished at all. I felt that there was something missing in the essay, but couldn’t figure out what it was, so I just decided to leave that question unanswered until my conference. Mat was very helpful in giving some tips on how to improve the essay, and helped me find my focus for the paper. I am planning on rearranging some of my topics in my essay to focus more on the idea of a “sign-up sheet”. I also plan to elaborate more on myself, and on my experience with my project in the NHS committee. After leaving the conference with Mat, I definitely felt more in-the-know on what my paper should include, and ways I could improve it to make it great.
