Blog #3 - Ch. 5 BBG

When Mat mentioned that we would have to conduct an interview fairly quickly for our projects, my mind went into hyper mode. Thoughts were flying through my head at a mile-a-minute speed, making it impossible to consider what my questions even were. I became anxious very quickly, and started stressing about the one question that stuck in my head over the others: What kind of questions am I supposed to be asking? I had little experience in the past with developing a research proposal, and despite knowing that I’ve had to do research projects in the past, my mind went from crammed with thoughts to empty in a matter of two seconds. However, I found several sections in chapter five from our BBG textbook that really helped me take a step back and relax. I’ve learned that I’m a very nervous person when it comes to writing and projects. I think too fast, or not at all, and neither is healthy for my writing skills. The mini sections in the book gave me some advice on how to go about finding questions for my research. I am so much more relieved now that I realize the simplicity in it all. I’m looking forward to just focusing on why I’m passionate about the community I will be writing about, and to using my eagerness to be a part of that community as a way to help generate some of the questions I may have for my interviewee.
